From Sword beach up to Utah beach there were plenty of WW2 vehicles to be seen. Some parked up at recreations of war time camps, others in camp sites and hotels. It was hard to drive down any road in Normandy without seeing a WW2 classic military vehicle. While walking along the front at Arromanches we came across a very unusual Jeep, six wheels armed with 30 cal, 50 cal machine guns and a 37mm anti tank gun! We spotted it again parked outside Ryes British Cemetery. Talking to one of the crew, he told us it was built by Paul Gillard who comes from Wales. The Jeep took Paul seven years to build, the detailing and craftsmanship is very impressive. We voted this vehicle – Best Jeep in Normandy 2017.The annual gathering on the beach for the 6th of June started early, all vehicles needed a pass to get on the beach, which is a good idea as it stops unsuitable vehicles from getting in the line up.
